Laura Katherine O'Neill is the first born of Lydia and Ethan O'Neill. They went on to have four more children: three boys and one girl. Laura is now 16 (celebrating her 17th birthday in November), and her youngest sibling is 6.
Her parents are both California natives. They met in college in Texas, and after a few stints in New York they finally decided to settle back down in California where their families still were. Laura has a total of ten cousins, and she's the eldest of them all.
The O'Neill family is one that is dripped in fame. Laura's mother, Lydia, is a noted fashion designer and works from her own studio. Laura's father, Ethan, is one of the heirs to the O'Neill surfing fortune. Ethan still works with the company, doing lots of PR and events. It is not uncommon to spot Mr. O'Neill out surfing in the early morning hours with all the younger kids. Even with their fortunes, the O'Neill kids have been brought up to earn what they get. They still have chores, and Laura had to fight tooth and nail and earn the car her parents got her on her sixteenth birthday. A used car. Which she was more than happy to get.
Laura is petrified of surfing, much to her father's dismay. She tends to think she's way too gangly for it and the thought of the board smacking her in the face isn't all that appealing. Plus, she really thinks that Nemo should not be found by humans.
Laura is currently a sophomore in high school, to be entering her junior year in the Fall. She's part of the school yearbook staff and loves taking photos of her classmates. Her father was quite the basketball athlete in high school and college, and while Laura may have gotten his height, she definitely didn't get his grace. She jokes around with shooting hoops but really, she's so glad he was okay with her not trying out for the team. Instead, Laura can be seen in the crowds cheering with her friends, and even for her friends that are on the field.
Even though she didn't get her father's passion for surfing or basketball, she got it for music. Occasionally she can be seen with a guitar, but only if she gets over her stage fright. Stage fright meaning... more than one person in the room. For even though Laura loves music endlessly, she knows she'll never pursue a career being a frontwoman for it. Instead, Laura's first love is photography... and baking.
Suckered in from the first moment, Laura learned to love baking. She learned at a young age to help her mom with the dinner meals for the family of seven, and now likes to cook baked goods for her friends. She'll come to school almost daily with a new batch of brownies, or cupcakes, or just some random treat that she threw together and tried out. if there's a holiday, you can bet Laura will be bringing in something totally decorated in its honor.
A girlie girl to the max, Laura loves her dresses. She'd rather wear dresses every day than anything else. Even when she wears jeans, she tries to make them as girlie as possible with the help of her designer mother.
Laura is the kind to love fiercely. When she meets someone and learns to trust them, it's for life. If she gives you her trust, it's for life. The worst thing in her world at the moment, would be if someone she trusted just totally backstabbed her. It's happened a couple times before, but even still Laura always tries to look for the good in people. It's earned her a reputation in some circles for being naive or a little too goody-goody, but Laura will just smile, offer a cupcake, and be on her way.
